In A Blink Of An Eye

A sudden realization came over me a bit while ago while thinking about the painting portraits.

I've always had trouble with color so was wondering what would be a best way to learn it? Answer is still uncertain, but one method came over when I was thinking about doing portraits: that while I'm copying them, I haven't really paid much attention. This was apparent when I tried to paint my characters without any reference. I couldn't get the values of the face correctly. It was because I just looked, without really looking. I'm hoping that realizing this will help me be aware of the colors and values more.

And for that purpose I have came up with a temporary quick-fix. Just to pick the colors from the pictures I like. With this method, I'm hoping that I can learn a bit more about the color harmony, because I'll be directly choosing the color palette from nature itself.

There's a long way to go but process of figuring out is always so much fun than anything in the world.
